If I'd known I was going to live so long, I'd have taken better care of myself. ~Leon Eldred
Wellness is not merely the absence of disease, but a lifestyle that includes a variety of healthy behaviors such as adequate exercise, proper nutrition, and abstaining from harmful habits such as drugs and alcohol. We are each responsible for learning about and being able to identify symptoms of disease; getting regular checkups; and creating a safe environment. Once these behaviors are practiced with consistency, you will be well on your way to achieving wellness. Developing such healthy habits today will not only add years to your life, but will enhance the enjoyment and quality of those years.
Tips for optimal physical wellness:
• Exercise daily
• Get adequate rest
• Use protective equipment such as seat belts and helmets
• Learn to recognize early signs of illness
• Eat a variety of healthy foods
• Control meal portions
• Stop smoking
• Use alcohol in moderation, if at all
